Carnival Weekend

Image this: you are wearing a crazy-ugly hat, and you have around your neck a Hawaiian necklace with colorful flowers. You would be a bit embarrassed of yourself, if it wasn't for the fact that you are surrounded by thousands of others like you. It also helps that you are in Barcelona, where no one knows you, and that it is Carnival! Can you think of a better moment to go with the flow?

At The Hostel Box, we would like to suggest to you some activities that you would hate to miss during your visit to this amazing city.

Thursday, there is a parade to welcome the Carnival King, which will go through the city center and will be, for sure, a different way to discover the old building and streets Barcelona has to offer. The parade will finish at Plaça Comercial, close to the Mercat del Born (such a awesomely big iron building that is an absolute must see), with fireworks and an inaugural dance to start with the five days celebration.

For Saturday, we suggest you to walk around and enjoy the small parades each neighborhood organizes. We love the one which runs through Gracia and the one starting from La Rambla del Raval.

Barcelona Carnival is famed for being very fun, traditional and going back to its roots. And if you are a looking for a big party, head to nearby Sitges where in the evening there is a world famous carnival where you can party all night!

To finish this carnival-weekend, on Sunday, it is essential to see the big flashmob: this year there is the ‘What does the fox say?’ hit playing, everybody will dance at the same time with the same choreography. If you want to get ready for it, just click the link and learn the steps! After that there is a fantastic show with balloons and confetti that will be the perfect ending for the perfect weekend.

ENJOY!
